Damara's Trip to Malta

The lovely Damara accompanied me on a trip to Malta, where we soaked up the sun, visited archaeological sites and enjoyed the beach!

On the airplane from rainy London to sunny Malta!

These two photo's were taken at the Tarxien Temples (one of four ancient sites we visited), built between 3600 - 2500 BC.

Malta is covered with beautiful wildflowers in spring time.

Damara with a statue found at one of the ancient temple sites.

Damara in Pretty Bay.

At one of Malta's sandy beaches, Golden Bay.

Posing by a fountain in the capital, Valetta.

Looking out over the Blue Grotto.

On the speedboat to Comino!

Time for a swim!

Inspecting the local flora.

At the beautiful Blue Lagoon (where we unfortunately couldn't swim due to stinging jellyfish - huge disappointment!).

Travel companion Bunny (belongs my boyfriend's mum).

Damara will soon be resuming her journey around the world - next stop: sunny California, USA!

Happy Easter!

Ladylollipop's Damara came to visit Hazelnut Hollow!

On Friday she visited the Belas Knap Long Barrow, a prehistoric burial site.

It is customary in Hazelnut Hollow for the bunny families to hide Easter eggs each year, and as the honorary guest, Damara was invited to help with the preparations! (Click the pictures below for a larger version!)

Country Kitchen

My new Country Kitchen set!

I love that this set comes with a bunch of different tile stickers - I decided to mix and match them because I don't like the plain white tiles much. I also put a small one on the cutting board. I do wish the kitchen came with four dining chairs instead of one, perhaps I can find two spare ones on eBay.

Here is the Baeman family testing out the new kitchen - mum Geraldine has baked madeleines!

Little Helly has managed to get her paws on a madeleine as well, and is happily eating away under the table.

Helly and father Larry doing the washing up afterwards!

Snow Day

Hazelnut Hollow finally got some snow!

Snowmen were built... (so annoyed at myself, I forgot to use a tiny carrot from my new kitchen set!)

Of course the boys had to top the girls' snowman!

After which a snow war ensued!

The girls making snow angels!

And a snowy Baeman family portrait!

New Family and Baby

The latest Hazelnut Hollow residents: the Periwinkle family and a new arrival for the Chocolate family: baby Crème.

I am currently staying with my family in Holland, and my mum got me these! Sylvanian Families are not easy to find in Holland, but there's one toyshop in the nearby city that sells them. Obviously they're not as well stocked as SSK, but they had a good amount on display, including some open-hand families. I almost got the Periwinkles for Christmas, I just couldn't decide between all the cute rabbits. And I'm really happy with baby Crème, the little crib is so cute. I like how the little railing can come down, and the drawers are functional.

Updated Links

Just a quick note to say I've added a bunch of new Friends to the list, you can find them on the right hand side! If you'd like me to add a link to your Sylvanian Families blog or website, please leave a comment below. Of course I'd also appreciate it very much if you link back to me :)

Rugs and Wallpaper

New purchases to decorate my hotel with! I bought the wallpaper a couple of weeks ago when I was staying in the country and discovered a shop selling all kinds of dolls house accessories. I couldn't resist the floral wallpaper and the cute children's room print! I plan on having one of the main rooms (the large ones in the middle) covered in the blue floral, the green floral and children's print will go in one of the rooms in the wings.

The rugs I bought on eBay and I'm so happy with them! Most dolls house rugs on eBay are Persian rugs, which I do like, but I prefer a floral design like these. They're not available from the seller I bought them from anymore, but it looks like other people are selling them as well (search for 'floral rug' under Doll's Miniatures and Houses). They're colourful, very nice quality and not too thick (which is important I think, I don't want the furniture wobbling around).

Conservatory Living Room

I fell in love with this set when I saw it, the sweet pastel shades and adorable accessories - I had to have it! Unfortunately it was no longer for sale at SSK, and I think it went out of production as I couldn't find it in any other shops either. I found a brand new set on eBay however (for a very reasonable price too), I'm so happy with it! The tea set is super cute and I love how there are multiple stickers for the picture frame. I haven't actually put them on yet, because a) I can't choose and b) I'm going to cast the frame in resin, so I have a couple extra for my hotel. I might try to cast the little photo frame too, if it goes well.

I will be on the lookout for the actual conservatory building as well now, as I think it would make quite a lovely addition to my hotel! I wish I had seen the offer at SSK sooner, as I bought the Vegetable Garden a little while ago (it comes free with the conservatory now!).

Christmas Presents

Excuse my cat's bum in the background! She loves to get in the middle of whatever I'm doing.. This year I didn't just get one, but two Christmas sets - my Sylvanian critters got plenty of presents under their tree(s) this year! Even though I said I like the chunky Christmas tree better, this one actually looked much better than I expected. The little decorations are very nice and I hadn't noticed the wreath underneath before, which looks really cute. I think my favourite toy is the little duckling on wheels! I noticed that the Father Christmas figure is a lot darker than in the picture - does anyone know what family he belongs to?

The Chocolate and Cottontail families are also new to Hazelnut Hollow. The Cottontail family has a little baby girl and the Chocolate family have a pair of twins. The twins also come with a little bottle and dummy, which I forgot to include in the picture!
